Prime Minister Dickon Mitchell has strongly rejected claims that his authorities is spending massive sums of public funds on journey. In an announcement, he clarified that, apart from occasions and organizations that Grenada is obligated to attend, the journey bills of presidency ministers are sometimes lined by the inviting entities, not the nationwide Treasury.
Mitchell’s response comes amid rising scrutiny over authorities spending, notably associated to abroad journey. The Prime Minister emphasised that his administration is dedicated to transparency and financial accountability, reiterating that any official journey is both funded by exterior organizations or tied to Grenada’s official obligations. This clarification seeks to dispel issues that public funds are being misused for pointless or extreme journey bills by authorities officers.
“When folks speak about journey, there isn’t a important journey,” Prime Minister Mitchell stated in an interview as he sought to justify that his journey, which on common is one monthly, isn’t a burden to the state.
