    Models strut stuff at FSUMC 135th Anniversary Luncheon – Caribbean Life

    A number of fashions had been available Saturday strutting their stuff in the course of the Luncheon and Style Present celebrating the 135th Anniversary of Fenimore Street United Methodist Church (FSUMC) in Brooklyn.

    “The spotlight of the night was the style present, which was coordinated by Sis. Diane Brown, who’s the chairperson for the Increased Schooling Committee,” Sis. Marlene Ferguson, the indefatigable Trinidadian-born chairperson of the church’s Anniversary Committee, instructed Caribbean Life.

    She stated the fashions, who included her, had been: Diane; Natalie; Murray; Brielle; Valcia; Harriet; Majorie; Sophie; Linda; and Elainna, “the youngest trend icon – 9 years outdated.”

    “There’s seldom a boring second at Fenimore Avenue UMC,” Jamaican-born Brown instructed Caribbean Life. “When planning an occasion, we put God in first place, together with our coronary heart, physique and soul into it.

    “Once I was requested to be the style coordinator, I didn’t hesitate,” she added. “I feel it will be a brand new and thrilling enterprise so as to add to the planning of the church’s anniversary.  If one ought to ask me what a part of the style present I loved probably the most, I might say all components of it.

    “It was in regards to the friendship and closeness in a room serving to one another to dress, ensuring our apparel was in place, and naming our outfits, which was so hilarious,” Brown continued. “We walked out in type, whereas we added our particular person animations and gimmicks.

    Ferguson stated the occasion started with a “rousing welcome” by Mistress of Ceremonies Sis. Desma King, adopted by the invocation by Sis. Joycelyn King, no relations to Desma.

    “The DJ took the occasion to its highest tempo, entertaining the viewers, and adopted with solo renditions by Sis. Patricia Senhouse and Sis. Erlene Williams-King – not forgetting our pianist Herline Floviril, who accompanied the soloists,” Ferguson added.

    Senhouse, a Trinidadian native, sang “You Raised Me Up”, whereas Williams-King, a Vincentian nationwide, supplied an Operatic rendition of “To God Be the Glory.”

    The church’s pastor the Rev. Roger Jackson and First Girl Kim had been amongst patrons, in addition to the pastors of Crawford Memorial and St. Stephen’s United Methodist Church buildings within the Bronx, and Bethel and Bushwick United Methodist Church buildings in Brooklyn, Revs. Heidi N. Thomas and Lindsay Neal, respectively.

    Ferguson described the luncheon menu as “very good”, with the entrée comprising baked salmon, Cornish hen, baked rooster, rice and beans, veggie pasta salad, and mac and cheese.

    “Because of our very personal cooks, Sis. Doreen Thomas, Sis. Lola Clark and Sis. Glenner Strachn,” she stated.
