PORT OF SPAIN, Trinidad, CMC – An earthquake measuring 3.8 on the Richter scale shook two Caribbean nations early Tuesday morning. Luckily, there have been no stories of accidents or harm following the tremor.
The Seismic Research Centre (SRC) of the St Augustine campus of the College of the West Indies, stated that the tremor was recorded at 4.57 a.m. (native time) and was positioned Latitude: 11.13N, Longitude: 61.94W at a depth of 10 kilometres (km).
The SRC stated it was felt 70 km North West of Port of Spain, 91 km North West of Arima, east of the capital, and 104 km, south south west of St George’s, Grenada’s capital.
Tuesday’s quake is the most recent seismic exercise to have an effect on the Caribbean in current days.
An earthquake with a magnitude of 4.1 was felt in St John’s Antigua, Brades in Montserrat and Basseterre in St Kitts-Nevis, two days in the past, whereas one other with a magnitude of 4.0 was felt in Fort-de-France, Martinique, Castries, St Lucia and Roseau, Dominica three days earlier.
