    US launches Coalition for Climate Entrepreneurship Hub in Jamaica – Caribbean Life

    America Division of State says that Particular Consultant for International Partnerships Dorothy McAuliffe, US Ambassador to Jamaica N. Nick Perry and the Branson Centre of Entrepreneurship, Caribbean on Wednesday signed a memorandum of understanding (MOU) launching a Coalition for Local weather Entrepreneurship (CCE) Hub in Kingston, Jamaica.

    The State Division mentioned the hub will present programming, coaching and mentorship, and facilitate entry to capital for greater than 130 local weather entrepreneurs from at the least 15 nations all through the Caribbean. 

    “Co-signatories and companions, Branson Centre of Entrepreneurship, the Division of State’s Workplace of International Partnerships and US Embassy Kingston will assist local weather entrepreneurs via capital, capability constructing, technical help, entry to mentorships, and community constructing in early and development levels,” the State Division mentioned.  

    It mentioned preliminary funding to ascertain CCE Hub Jamaica comes from a Division of State grant of US $250,000 from the Coalition for Local weather Entrepreneurship Fund. 

    The State Division mentioned this seed cash might be matched by personal sector companions to carry the entire program worth to greater than US $400,000.

    CCE Hub Jamaica is the ninth such hub world wide, the State Division mentioned, including that CCE Hubs present “a devoted innovation area for founders and startups engaged on rising sustainable options for clear vitality, climate-smart agriculture, local weather finance, local weather resilience, adaptation and restoration.”

    The State Division mentioned the primary CCE Hub was established in Accra, Ghana in 2023 in partnership with Arm and Educational Metropolis College. 

    CCE was launched at COP26 in Glasgow as a public-private partnership between the State Division and personal sector companions to deal with the local weather disaster whereas contributing to the inexperienced development of growing nations by supporting entrepreneurship round local weather options, the State Division mentioned. 

    It mentioned CCE Hub Kingston will assist the US-Caribbean Partnership to Handle the Local weather Disaster 2030 (PACC 2030) and can instantly additional its 4 targets of enhancing entry to growth financing, facilitating clear vitality venture growth, enhancing native capability for local weather adaptation, and deepening collaboration with Caribbean companions.
