    Caribbean Diaspora women leaders to strengthen leadership skills – Caribbean Life

    The Group of American States (OAS) says the third Regional Assembly of Ladies Leaders of Diasporas in Latin America and the Caribbean will deliver collectively 33 ladies leaders from varied Diasporas from 12 nations within the area, from August 14 to 16 in Cartagena, Colombia, to strengthen their expertise on management, socioeconomic integration, intersectionality, gender perspective and advocacy, based mostly on their very own experiences.

    The Washington-based OAS stated the occasion, “Dialogue of ladies leaders of the Diasporas in Latin America and the Caribbean” – organized by the Workplace of the Particular Envoy for the Response to Venezuela of the Worldwide Group for Migration (IOM), the Division of Social Inclusion of the Secretariat for Entry to Rights and Fairness of the OAS and the Worldwide Labor Group (ILO), by the Lazos Venture – will “reinforce the capacities of 33 migrant and refugee ladies leaders of organizations from varied Diasporas within the area.”

    The OAS stated this shall be achieved by “the change of fine practices, and the educational theoretical and sensible instruments with the purpose of guaranteeing the self-management and sustainability of their organizations, in addition to articulating widespread agendas to develop the influence of their actions.” 

    For the primary time, the assembly is co-led by the Venezuelan Diaspora Leaders Community, and consists of ladies from different Diasporas within the area, “with the target of selling dialogue and the change of experiences and classes discovered to strengthen a networked motion based mostly on range and mutual assist”, the OAS stated. 

    It stated it’s estimated that there are between 16 and 20 million migrants in Latin America and the Caribbean, in line with the Report on Migration within the World 2024. 

    “The variety of individuals in a scenario of human mobility has grown extra on this area than in another a part of the world,” the OAS stated. “Ladies symbolize almost half of this group, with a rising tendency emigrate independently.

    The OAS stated the First Assembly of Ladies Leaders of the Venezuelan Diaspora was held in Panama in 2022.

    On that event, the Community of Ladies Leaders of the Venezuelan Diaspora was created and the Panama Declaration was printed, the OAS stated. 

    It stated the second assembly, in 2023, passed off in Buenos Aires, Argentina, and the Buenos Aires Declaration was printed.
