    Queens residents can participate in donation drive for islanders impacted by Hurricane Beryl – QNS

    Residents can donate now till Sep. 1 to the Hurricane Beryl Donation Drive.

    Queens Borough President Donovan Richards Jr. is partnering with native organizations to host a donation drive to help folks impacted by Hurricane Beryl.

    Richards on Monday introduced that he’s partnering with the Consulate Basic of Jamaica in New York and Supporting Each Life Behind Yours to gather donations by Sep. 1. Donations can be despatched to island nations impacted by the hurricane. 

    Hurricane Beryl touched down on the Caribbean nation of Jamaica on July 3. The class 5 storm prompted main injury to Jamaica, as tons of of hundreds of houses had been left with out energy. The storm ravaged different southeastern Caribbean nations, together with Carriacou — an island in Grenada — St. Vincent and the Grenadines. By July 4, the hurricane barreled down on the Cayman Islands and Mexico.

    The borough president’s workplace is accepting donations of medical provides, hygiene objects, family provides and non-perishable meals. Donations could be dropped off in a field on the primary flooring of Queens Borough Hall, subsequent to the safety desk within the foyer.

    Queens Borough Corridor is situated at 120-55 Queens Blvd. in Kew Gardens, and the foyer of the constructing is open 24 hours a day. 

    Under is an inventory of acceptable objects for donation:

    • Medical provides, resembling bandages, gauze pads, masks, alcohol pads, latex gloves and over-the-counter drugs resembling Neosporin and Tylenol.
    • Hygienic provides, resembling sanitizer, diapers, toothpaste and menstrual merchandise.
    • Non-perishable meals, resembling canned items, child system, rice, flour and sugar.
    • Home goods, resembling flashlights, batteries, cleansing provides and sleeping luggage.
