The Fisheries Laws of Saint Kitts and Nevis is now finalized as a consequence of latest collaborative work from a crew from the Meals and Agriculture Group of the United Nations (FAO) and The Ministry of Agriculture, Fisheries and Marine Assets, Workplace of the Legal professional Basic, Ministry of Justice and Authorized Affairs and the Authorized Division of the Nevis Island Administration.
The Fisheries Laws which, when adopted, will implement the Fisheries and Marine Assets Act and assist the Island’s efforts to successfully handle its fisheries sources for the good thing about its folks. It should additionally contribute to the efficient implementation of the FAO Settlement on Port State Measures whereas combating Unlawful, Unreported and Unregulated (IUU) fishing on the island.

Moreover, a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) was signed by Samal Duggins, Minister of Agriculture, Fisheries, and Marine Assets, and Tivanna Wharton, the Everlasting Secretary, Ministry of Tourism, Civil Aviation, and Worldwide Transport, on behalf of the Minister. The MOU goals to realize efficient and environment friendly cooperation and data change between the Division of Maritime Affairs, Ministry of Tourism, Civil Aviation, and Worldwide Transport, and the Division of Marine Assets, Ministry of Agriculture, Fisheries, and Marine Assets.
