Haiti’s transition council on Saturday mentioned it can vote for the nation’s subsequent president on Tuesday as a part of efforts to carry the Caribbean nation below management amid rampant gang violence.
The transition council took energy in a ceremony on Thursday, formalizing the resignation of former Prime Minister Ariel Henry.
The transitional authorities’s mandate runs till February 2026, by when there are slated to be elections, and can’t be renewed.
The council’s set up is seen as a key step towards the deployment of a multinational safety mission Henry requested in 2022 and the United Nations accredited greater than six months in the past.
The election will happen on the prime minister’s Villa d’Accueil workplace on Tuesday morning, a press release mentioned.
