GEORGETOWN, Guyana, CMC – The Guyana-based Caribbean Neighborhood (CARICOM) Secretariat Monday mentioned it has signed a cooperation settlement with the Central American Agricultural Council (CAC) to enhance agricultural growth within the 15-member grouping.
The settlement will even enable for strengthening agriculture commerce ties between CARICOM and the Central American Integration System (SICA), the group mentioned.
CARICOM Secretary-Basic Dr. Carla Barnett and CAC’s government secretary, Lucrecia Rodríguez Peñalba, signed the settlement “which entered into power instantly (and) stemmed from the CARICOM-SICA Plan of Motion which Overseas Ministers of the 2 areas signed in Belize on 2 March 2022”.
The Secretariat mentioned that the settlement marks a milestone within the relationship between CARICOM and the CAC and focuses on selling packages, initiatives, and mechanisms that drive agricultural and rural growth in SICA and CARICOM.
The settlement covers important areas similar to climate-adapted sustainable agriculture, meals safety, agricultural productiveness, agricultural digitalization, and regional agricultural commerce. This additionally promotes the discount of tariffs, improves infrastructure and logistical capacities, fosters public-private partnerships, strengthens sub-regional worth chains, and enhances meals safety in each areas.
