At the very least two people misplaced their lives following a collision between a Coast Guard vessel and a civilian boat within the Moruca River in Area One (Barima Waini) on Friday morning.
The Guyana Defence Power (GDF) confirmed that the Coast Guard Raiders Craft 17 (RC 17) was concerned within the accident, which occurred round 06:45 hrs (native time).
In response to reviews, the Coast Guard vessel was en path to Santa Rosa when the collision transpired throughout a flip maneuver.
Fatalities
The civilian boat, carrying three adults and an toddler, bore the brunt of the affect. The operator of the unnamed civilian vessel and the mom of the toddler succumbed to their accidents.
Each victims have been pronounced lifeless upon arrival on the Charity Hospital. Their identities haven’t been disclosed.

Following the tragic incident, the broken Coast Guard vessel was escorted to the bottom within the Pomeroon River for evaluation and crucial measures.
The Guyana Defence Power, led by Chief of Defence Employees Brigadier Omar Khan, expressed profound condolences to the households and family members affected by the accident, emphasizing solidarity throughout this difficult interval.
In the meantime, the Guyana Police Power has initiated an investigation into the circumstances surrounding the collision, aiming to establish elements contributing to the deadly encounter.
