The Jamaica Scorpions asserted their dominance with a commanding ten-wicket victory over the Mixed Campuses and Faculties (CCC) of their 2024 West Indies Championship second-round conflict at Sabina Park on Friday.
Beginning the third day at 259-6, the Scorpions have been bowled out for 331 in 91.2 overs, securing a lead of 24 runs over the CCC. Peat Salmon’s aggressive 45 off 44 balls, complemented by younger Zishan Motara’s career-best figures of 7-108, set the stage for the Scorpions’ dominance.
Dealing with a modest deficit of 24 runs, the CCC faltered of their second innings, collapsing for simply 87 runs in 30.4 overs. The Scorpions’ bowlers, led by Peat Salmon’s 4-12, Gordon Bryan’s 3-19, and Abhijai Mansingh’s 2-35, wreaked havoc on the opposition batting line-up.
Chasing a mere 64 runs for victory, Scorpions’ openers Chadwick Walton and Carlos Brown wasted no time, reaching the goal in simply 9.3 overs with out shedding a wicket. Walton’s unbeaten 46, following his spectacular 163 within the first innings, together with Brown’s 19*, ensured a cushty ten-wicket win for the Scorpions.
With this resounding victory, the Jamaica Scorpions marked a triumphant return to type within the West Indies Championship, showcasing their dominance on dwelling turf at Sabina Park.
