The College of the West Indies Medical Alumni Affiliation (UWIMAA) has introduced that it met its fundraising aim of 1.5 million USD, which is able to allow it to determine an endowment. This aim was achieved by way of a mix of money and agency pledges.
After partnering with the College’s Institutional Development Division in September 2021, the newly established UWIMAA executives set their sights on establishing an endowment. One month later, an MOU was signed with the College, initiating the Endowment with just a few vital donations from beneficiant alumni akin to Dr. Farley Gleghorn (Class of 1983) and Dr. Doyle Slifer (Class of 1968). To this point, there have been 179 donations, with all however three coming from alumni and a single contribution from a company entity.
