PHILIPSBURG, St Maarten, CMC – The residents of this Dutch Caribbean island headed to the polls on Thursday morning in Parliamentary elections. The polls opened at 8 am (native time) at 20 polling stations for the 22,553 registered voters.
Cops from the opposite Dutch Caribbean islands of Aruba, Bonaire, and Curacao), arrived on the island to help with sustaining peace and safety.
Eight political events have supplied up 129 candidates for the 15 parliamentary seats.
The political events contesting are the Nationwide Alliance, United Sint Maarten Celebration, Nationwide Alternative Wealth, Empire Tradition Empowerment Affiliation, United Folks Celebration, Celebration for Progress, Unified Resilient Sint Maarten Motion, and Democratic Celebration.
