“Yearly, the Canadian Journalism Basis (CJF) awards spotlight the wonderful journalism produced by giant and small information organizations throughout the nation regardless of ongoing upheavals within the media,” says Chris Waddell, CJF Awards Committee Chair.”

To have a good time the distinctive work of journalists and information organizations throughout the nation, and to supply skilled development alternatives for rising journalistic expertise, (CJF) is now accepting entries for its 2024 awards and fellowships. The deadline for all submissions is Jan. 26, 2024.
The awards and fellowships now open for submissions are:
- CJF Bursary for BIPOC Scholar Journalists – $5,000 open to a Black, Indigenous and Different Individuals of Color (BIPOC) scholar of their closing 12 months of a Canadian undergraduate journalism program. It’s devoted to nurturing the expansion of rising video storytelling expertise
- CJF Black Journalism Fellowship Program – by 5 particular person fellowships, seeks to amplify Black voices, enhance information protection of Black points and nurture future Black media leaders by offering distinctive alternatives for early-career Black journalists
- CJF Award for Local weather Options Reporting – a $10,000 money prize recognizing excellence in reporting on what’s being performed in Canada and past to handle the influence of local weather change
- CJF Jackman Award for Excellence in Journalism – offered to Canadian information organizations whose journalism initiates profound and optimistic change locally they serve. There are two classes of recipients: giant and small media organizations.
- CJF Lifetime Achievement Award – acknowledges a Canadian who has made an excellent lifetime contribution to journalism. Nominations are accepted for all journalism classes.
- The Landsberg Award – acknowledges a journalist doing distinctive analysis, evaluation and writing by a gender lens about girls’s equality points and comes with a $5,000 prize.
- CJF-Edward Burtynsky Award for Local weather Photojournalism – celebrates provocative, impactful and inspirational local weather pictures from all over the world by photographs that additional individuals’s understanding of the causes and results of the local weather disaster.
- CJF-CBC Indigenous Journalism Fellowships – three early-career Indigenous journalists could have the chance to discover problems with curiosity whereas spending one month with the CBC Information Indigenous Unit in Winnipeg. A $10,000 stipend can be offered by the CJF.
- Tom Hanson Photojournalism Award – provides an early-career photojournalist a six-week paid internship with The Canadian Press, offering a chance to work in a fast-paced atmosphere and acquire nationwide publicity.
All 2024 award recipients and fellows can be acknowledged on the CJF Awards ceremony on June 12 on the Fairmont Royal York in Toronto.
