    Tropical Storm Philippe soaks northeast Caribbean on a path toward Bermuda, New England and Canada – Caribbean Life

    SAN JUAN, Puerto Rico (AP) — Tropical Storm Philippe drenched the U.S. and British Virgin Islands on Wednesday because it spun away from the northeast Caribbean on a path that will take it towards Bermuda and later New England and Atlantic Canada.

    The storm was situated about 255 miles (410 kilometers) north-northwest of St. Thomas on Wednesday afternoon. It had winds of as much as 45 mph (75 kph) and was transferring north-northwest at 9 mph (15 kph), in line with the Nationwide Hurricane Heart in Miami.

    The U.S. Virgin Islands shuttered all colleges and reported a number of energy outages in St. Thomas, St. Croix and St. John amid heavy rains and lightning.

    Colleges in St. Martin and St. Barts additionally remained closed Wednesday morning, and officers within the French Caribbean territories banned individuals from swimming within the ocean or doing any nautical actions till Thursday.

    Forecasters mentioned as much as 12 inches (30 centimeters) of rain may fall within the U.S. and British Virgin Islands, and as much as 4 inches (10 centimeters) in northeast and southeast Puerto Rico.

    A tropical storm watch was issued for Bermuda, with Philippe is predicted to method the island late Thursday and Friday because it was forecast to accentuate barely within the coming days.
